Exploring Aspects of Absurdism in Albert Camus's novel The Stranger

Abstract

The Stranger as an absurd novel, consists widely of life difficulties in human senseless existence. It also suggests that how to compete with absurdity and learn to know living in it till death. The protagonist, Meursault, being a strange person to his society and his own existence in this absurd universe, how lives his life through absurdity and faces multiple challenges owing to his indifferent attitudes at the funeral of Maman and in the court. So, the main concentration of this paper is to study the minor absurd elements that are represented through plenty of dialogues and usage of different symbols in the novel. Life is a dynamic process of effort but unfortunately, human all actions and elbow greases are in vain. Eventually, the inevitability of death, confrontation between absurd and human struggle to live is highlighted with the recurring death events broadly with easy explanation and argumentations.
